If you’re a parent of a stroke survivor, or of a child with an early brain or neurological injury, hemiplegia or cerebral palsy, I can help.
During these challenging times, small changes can make large differences for family wellbeing.
Having guided my youngest daughter’s recovery from a stroke at birth, I can bridge the gap between the Wild West of large Facebook groups and expert help (physicians and therapists) who might be extremely difficult to access right now.
Join me for 60-minute sessions via Zoom include guidance on optimizing your home environment, peer learning, and professional support.

- Find connection and share discoveries with other families
- Receive feedback and coaching based on my personal experience and professional training in Feldenkrais, Somatic Experiencing and Hand-in-Hand Parenting.

Testimonials
Mara – You have been amazing for him… his teachers keep commenting on how much more he’s accessing and enjoying his school playground, connecting and integrating with peers— the visible gains are in motor and speech skills but the real drivers in the gain are self-confidence and social connection. He’s climbing up higher and on harder structures, happier doing it with a sense of belonging with his peers, experimenting and problem-solving more on this own. He’s striving a lot more on his own even when no one is there to help him, self-motivation which comes from your development of the whole child– physical, mental, and social emotional. We are so lucky to have you in our lives!Parent of a preschool-aged stroke survivor
Our son had a stroke that affected the motor functioning on his left side, mostly in his upper body (arm and hand). Mara was the first person, though, including the occupational therapists at Children’s, to notice his trunk, and to suggest that giving him sensory input there was foundational to activating the muscles in his shoulder, arm, and hand. It kind of blew us away to see that, if he got sensory input on the trunk, a second or two later, he might volitionally move his left arm. This was a subtle but important lesson for us: that we needed to observe—and try to understand—movement patterns more closely than we had been until then, and to do so with a less judgmental, interventionist lens. Mara’s Family Story
When I was told that my full-term newborn baby, Mia, was having seizures and needed to be transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, we began a journey that I could not have imagined, a NICU stay, anti-seizure medications for months, a stroke diagnosis, a mix of fear and hope for my daughter’s future, uncertainty about how I’d manage it all while also raising my first child Zoe, then 2.5 years old.
Fortunately, I had prior training in working with movement, learning, and the nervous system, and was able to bring that knowledge to support Mia’s development and advocate for her needs at every step in collaboration with therapists, doctors, teachers, and coaches. Mia’s recovery is remarkable, among the best possible according to pediatric neurologists who look at the MRI showing a major stroke in her left middle cerebral artery, and then see my child doing all that she does.
This short documentary, produced by Northeastern University, follows my daughter Mia’s progress from birth to age 10.
